Ceratocystis workshop

This workshop is being organised by the Centre for Forest Biotechnology and Tree Improvement (CFBTI) as part of the ACIAR project lead by Assoc. Prof. Caroline Mohammed at the University of Tasmania. The workshop is on the theme of Ceratocystis in hardwood plantation trees with a focus on SE Asia. As Ceratocystis is a major problem in Acacia mangium plantations in Indonesia, and resistance is the main focus of management strategies, the workshop will be sponsored by IUFRO Working Party 2.08.07 on Silviculture and Genetics of Acacia.

International experts will include Professor Acelino Alfenas from the Federal University of Viçosa and Dr Irene Barnes from the Forestry and Agricultural Biotechnology Institute, University of Pretoria.

The workshop will be held in Yogyakarta, in February 15-16, 2016 followed by a field trip to visit plantations damaged by Ceratocystis (February 17-18, 2016). Please send your abstract by email to istiana.prihatini@biotifor.or.id, as a word attachment no later than Saturday January 9, 2016. We will inform you if your abstract is selected for an oral presentation by January 23th.
